"Literature is a luxury; fiction is a necessity."
G.K. Chesterton
Literature is for rainy days and the satisfaction of a lasting experience. Reading a classic is like eating comfort food; one can't help but remember favorite characters and scenes and want them again and again. To write literature is to try to capture a universal something - be it a truth, a mood, an emotion, a foible or strength. One tries to provoke thought and create resonance and convey meaning from mere words. Every once in a while, one succeeds. A slice of life can be a beautiful thing.
